Puntland’s President, Said Abdullahi Deni, announced last night that a new police force will assume responsibility for the overall security of the capital, Garowe, within the next few hours.
President Deni stated that the highly trained unit will introduce a new approach to maintaining security in Garowe an area that has at times faced criticism.
He urged residents of the city to welcome the new force and cooperate closely with security officials.
The new force, trained at Carmo College in October, consists of educated young people, including university graduates.
