Early this morning, six mortar shells were fired into the Halane compound in Mogadishu, a heavily fortified area that houses embassies, international organizations, and a segment of ATMIS forces. So far, no casualties or damages have been officially reported.

This marks the sixth such attack on Halane in the span of six months, raising renewed concerns about the security situation in one of the most protected zones in the Somali capital.

A previous similar attack on the compound led to the burning of United Nations vehicles, causing significant material damage, although no fatalities were reported in that incident either.

The Federal Government of Somalia rarely comments on these types of attacks, and as of now, no official statement has been released by security agencies or government spokespeople regarding this morning’s shelling.

Despite the high-security measures in Halane, the recurring attacks highlight ongoing security threats at a time when efforts are underway to stabilize both the political and security landscape in Mogadishu.
