Mogadishu – Colonel Mohamed Abdulqadir Mohamed (Shakiib), the former commander of the western security sector in Mogadishu, has been removed from his position and replaced by a junior driver, according to reliable security sources.

Colonel Shakiib, who played a significant role in maintaining security in the capital over an extended period, was dismissed by the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Mohamed Ali (Sanbaloolshe).

The official reason for the dismissal has not been disclosed, but the move is seen as part of ongoing leadership reshuffles aimed at strengthening the security apparatus in response to ongoing threats in the capital.

Colonel Shakiib was well-known for leading major operations to stabilize key neighborhoods in Mogadishu and was regarded as an experienced and capable officer.

As of now, there has been no official statement from NISA or the Ministry of Security regarding the identity or qualifications of the junior driver who replaced Shakiib, raising public concerns about the transparency and standards of security appointments.
