Puntland security forces have publicly showcased the military equipment they captured from ISIS militants following a targeted operation in the Bari region’s mountainous areas.
The displayed supplies include light weapons, ammunition, and other military gear, all of which were recovered when the extremists abandoned their cache upon detecting the advancing Puntland forces. The exhibition took place near the operational zone where ongoing offensives against insurgent hideouts in Cal Madow and surrounding hills have been underway.
A senior Puntland officer at the display site explained that these supplies were critical to ISIS’s local operations. He noted that the militants fled their positions only after realizing security forces were closing in.
This operation forms part of Puntland’s broader effort to eradicate extremist groups from its territory. Commanders have emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with local communities to strengthen security and prevent any resurgence of militant activity.
