Kenyan President William Ruto said that he, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed will discuss to reduce the tension in the Horn of Africa.
“President Museveni, I, my brother Hassan Sheikh, and Prime Minister Abiy, are planning to have a meeting, so that we can also reduce the current tension in the Horn of Africa,” President Ruto said while speaking at the EAC Summit in in Arusha, Tanzania.
“Because the peace of Somalia, the stability of Somalia is a significant part of the stability of our region,” added President Ruto, and it will be the first direct meeting between the leaders of Ethiopia and Somalia since Addis Ababa signed the controversial agreement with Somaliland.
This is the last attempt to end the tension between Somalia and Ethiopia that resulted from the consensus agreement reached on January 1 in Addis Ababa between Ethiopia and Somaliland, which is central to the crisis in the Horn of Africa region.
