Mogadishu | May 7, 2025 – As the National Consultative Forum continues in Mogadishu, emerging reports suggest that tensions have surfaced among some federal member state leaders over proposals presented by the Federal Government.
According to reliable sources, during yesterday’s closed-door session, certain leaders expressed concern and skepticism toward specific agenda items introduced by Villa Somalia. A key point of contention is the reported push by the Presidency for all forum participants to unite under the newly emerging political organization — the Justice and Development Party (Ururka Caddaaladda iyo Horumarka).
One federal member state president is said to have privately voiced dissatisfaction with the idea, citing the risk of blurring lines between state responsibilities and partisan alignment, particularly in the context of upcoming electoral preparations.
While the official communiqué of the summit emphasizes unity and cooperation, internal disagreements reflect the complex political landscape Somalia must navigate as it moves toward national reconciliation and democratic reform.
