A Somali woman, in a video she shared online, opened up about how she financially supported her family for 30 years, only to be abandoned by them when she fell into financial hardship.

“When I had money, I would constantly receive phone calls. I was loved, praised, and appreciated. But the moment I lost my income, the very people I supported turned their backs on me. No one checks on me anymore, and no one calls,” she said.

She went on to say that life taught her a painful lesson — that happiness sometimes comes not from people, but from choosing peace over pleasing others. “Now, if I want happiness, I have to exchange it for my own money. Sending money brings attention and kindness. But if I don’t send anything, no one remembers me.”

Her words deeply reflect the emotional weight of being used for financial support and then forgotten. The story has resonated widely on social media, with many sharing similar experiences of being valued only when financially beneficial.
