Intense fighting is currently taking place in the town of Sabiib and Caanoole in the Lower Shabelle region, where Somali Federal Government forces backed by ATMIS troops (formerly known as AMISOM) have launched a coordinated offensive against Al-Shabaab militants.

Sources confirm that government and ATMIS troops have entered several key parts of the town, as clashes erupted early this morning during the Fajr (dawn) prayer, and the battle is still ongoing at this hour.

Airstrikes Underway

At the same time, Somali National Army fighter jets are conducting aerial bombardments targeting suspected Al-Shabaab hideouts. Witnesses report seeing multiple airstrikes hitting positions believed to be occupied by senior militant leaders.

Al-Shabaab fighters are said to be putting up fierce resistance, using heavy weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to slow the joint forces’ advance.

Tense Situation on the Ground

The situation in Sabiib and Caanoole remains highly volatile, with loud explosions and continuous gunfire reported across the area. The exact number of casualties remains unclear due to the intensity of the ongoing clashes and lack of access to official military statements at this time.

RNN Somali TV is closely monitoring developments and will provide verified updates as more information becomes available from government and ATMIS military sources.
