Reports from the Jasiira area on the outskirts of Mogadishu indicate that a cargo plane has crashed there.
The plane that crashed was reportedly from Dhobley, en route to Mogadishu, and was reportedly severely damaged.
Five crew members on board were confirmed dead, according to the Somali government.
All five people who died in the crash were said to be Kenyan nationals.
The Somali government, which issued a statement, said that the aircraft had suffered a technical fault, and that five crew members were on board.
