Mogadishu, May 12, 2025 — The Banadir Regional Administration and Mogadishu Municipality have launched an intensive operation to restore the capital’s aesthetics and reopen major roads following the recent heavy rainfall that disrupted transportation infrastructure and affected the city’s cleanliness and appearance.

Teams from the Departments of Public Works, Sanitation, and Beautification — working in coordination with district administrations across Banadir Region — have successfully drained stagnant floodwaters from key roads. These efforts have also included street cleaning and the restoration of road aesthetics to ensure smoother movement of both pedestrians and vehicles.

In addition, a fast-track plan is underway to complete the remaining sanitation and beautification tasks across other affected parts of Mogadishu. Damaged roads are currently undergoing repairs and reconstruction to restore functionality and safety.

The Banadir Regional Administration emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to improve the city’s critical infrastructure, aiming to provide the capital’s residents with higher-quality public services and a cleaner, more livable urban environment.
