A group of 30 prominent Puntland politicians have released a strong statement accusing President Said Abdullahi Deni of illegally selling public lands in the Mudug region and obstructing development projects that benefit the broader public.

The politicians claim that land transactions have been conducted without transparency and outside of proper legal channels. They argue that the local population has been kept in the dark about land deals involving areas critical to the public interest.

“We are aware that lands are being sold by the government without following due process. Therefore, we call for an immediate halt to the sale of lands that the people of this region are not informed about and from which they receive no benefit,” the statement reads.

The group also warned that continued disregard for public participation in development planning and land management could lead to instability and growing mistrust between the people and the Puntland administration.

The statement has intensified political tensions in Puntland, as the region prepares for upcoming internal administrative decisions and possible electoral processes.
