It was announced recently that Zohran Mamdani has won the election for mayor of New York City in the United States.

As previously reported, President Donald Trump had threatened to cut off federal funding to New York if Mamdani were elected.

Zohran Kwame Mamdani (born October 18, 1991) is an American politician and the mayor-elect of New York City.

A member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, he has served since 2021 as a member of the New York State Assembly from the 36th district, representing the Queens neighborhood of Astoria.

Following his victory, Mayor-elect Mamdani delivered a passionate speech, during which he directly addressed Trump.

“Donald Trump,” he said, “since I know you’re watching me, I have four words for you: ”turn up the volume.”

Continuing his remarks, Mamdani added, “Before you can get to any one of us, you’ll have to go through all of us.”

While Mamdani was speaking, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, posting a brief reaction that read, “So it begins!”
