Lower Shabelle, Somalia – The Minister of Defense of the Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, accompanied by the Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali, and the Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, visited the areas of Sabiid and Caanoole in the Lower Shabelle region on Tuesday.

The visit aimed to oversee the resettlement of families whose homes were destroyed and who were displaced by the militant group Al-Shabaab.

Government Fulfills Stabilization Pledge

According to officials, the purpose of the trip was to implement the federal government’s pledge to stabilize areas recently liberated from Al-Shabaab and to accelerate recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The delegation reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring essential services, rebuilding infrastructure, and supporting affected communities as part of broader stabilization operations.

New Homes and Humanitarian Assistance Delivered

During the visit, local residents were handed newly constructed homes built following the liberation of the areas. In addition, food supplies and humanitarian assistance were distributed to vulnerable families to help strengthen livelihoods and fast-track recovery in the reclaimed districts.

Officials emphasized that rebuilding efforts will continue in coordination with security forces and local administrations to ensure lasting stability and sustainable development in the region.
