Somalia PM participated in a joint summit held by EAC and SADC.

The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, participated last night in a joint summit of the member states of the Eastern and Southern African Development Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The meeting, which took place via video conferencing, discussed the insecurity situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Prime Minister Hamsa, who spoke at the meeting, said that the humanitarian situation in eastern Congo is a responsibility of the countries of the region to find a solution and to act urgently.

In a joint statement from the EAC and SADC summit has named a five-member committee of former presidents who will work to find a solution to the DRC issue, and they are:

1.Former President of the Central African Republic, Catherine Samba Panza
2. And former President of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde
3.Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo
4. Former Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta
5.Former South African President, Kgalema Motlanthe
