The Northeastern Regional Parliament Speaker election is taking place today in Lascaanood, the capital of Sool Region, with the registration of candidates running for the positions of Speaker and his deputies officially concluded last night.
These are the names of the candidates below;
Candidates for Chairman are , Dr. Aden Abdullahi Aw-Xasan (#83) and Abdiqafaar Mahmud Mohamed (#76).
Candidates for First Deputy Chairman are , Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed (#17) and Amran Ahmed Hassan (#11).
Candidates for Second Deputy Chairman is Abdirisaq Jama Warsame (#49).
In the past few hours, intense preparations have been underway in Lascaanod City regarding the Electoral Commission, the Interim Presidency, focusing on the polling station system and the selection of MPs.
The election is considered very interesting, as it comes at a time when the presidential race for the Northeastern region is also taking place in Lascaanod.
After the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the North-East Regional State is elected, the Speaker will announce another committee to work on the election of the President and Vice President of that administration, according to various members.
