The Independent Commission on Elections and Borders of Somalia, which was recently approved by the two houses of parliament in Somalia, elected the chairman of the commission today in Mogadishu.
The election of the members, which was witnessed by government ministers, the members of 18 members elected Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan as the chairman of the Elections and Borders Committee, while Saaqad Abshir Garad, who was a member of the Parliament of Puntland for a long time, was elected as the deputy chairman.
This committee is expected to work to ensure that the country has an election of people and votes, as the leaders of the Somali government have said several times.
The committee chose its board amid political conflict between Jubaland, Puntland and the federal government.
