The Federal Government of Somalia yesterday summoned the Kenyan ambassador to Mogadishu after the President of Jubaland Ahmed Mohamed Islan (Madobobe) landed in Nairobi on a private plane.
Sources close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs say that a letter has been sent to the Ambassador asking him to respond in a short period of time regarding “the illegal action of a Kenyan plane that violated the airspace of Somalia, by turning off the radar and taking it to Somalia.” an accused individual who has been prosecuted by the Court” as stated in the complaint letter.
The information we are getting also revealed that after he concludes his meetings in Kenya, Ahmed is planning to travel to the United Arab Emirates on an official visit.
His talks with Kenya and the United Arab Emirates are expected to focus on finding a solution to the ongoing conflict and the development of Jubaland.
The strained relationship between Jubaland and the federal government of Somalia is rooted in a dispute over constitutional amendments and electoral reforms.
Ahmed’s re-election was opposed by the Somali government, which led to the Raskambooni war between the Somali and Jubaland forces.
