Somalia , France discussed the strengthening of strategic cooperation between the two sides.

A delegation from the government of Somalia led by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ali Mohamed Omar, and Ambassador Yonis Hashi, Director of the European and American Department, and other officials met Mr. Thani Mohamed Soilihi, Minister of State of France Francophonie and International Cooperation.

The meeting discussed the strong cooperation between Somalia and France, and focused on how to promote cooperation in important areas such as security, migration, and economic development.

The talks highlighted Somalia’s growing role in the international arena, including its recent election as a member of the United Nations Security Council.

Also France congratulated Somalia on its achievements in foreign policy, promising to work closely with them.

Both sides stressed Somalia’s independence and stability, with France confirming its support for counter-terrorism efforts, maritime security, and the African Union Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

The meeting also discussed economic cooperation between the two sides, discussing the revival of French investment in Somalia’s economic infrastructure, such as fishing, etc.

Lastly the government of Somalia has thanked France for reopening its embassy in Mogadishu as a step taken to strengthen diplomatic relations. Both sides discussed the need to fight human trafficking and prevent natural disasters.
