Former Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who recently held a press conference in Mogadishu, spoke out strongly against the suppression of the press and the pressure on the city.
He said the number of journalists arrested by security forces today is 7, who were arrested while carrying out their daily duties.
Sheikh Sharif clearly condemned the measures to suppress journalists and independent media, and indicated that such actions will not stop the opposition’s efforts to hold timely elections in the country.
