The director of the European and American Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ambassador Yonis Hashi, had an important meeting with the Swiss Ambassador of Somalia govenment Mr. Mirko Guilietti, yesterday at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Ambassador Hashi thanked the Government of Switzerland for its relentless support to Somalia Federal Government.
The meeting focused on Somalia’s progress in the reconstruction of public institutions, economic development, and the improvement of various public services such as Health, and education.
The two sides underlined the importance of accelerating Somalia’s active efforts at the regional and international levels, such as its cooperation with the African Union, IGAD, and the East African Community, to promote peace and stability in the region.
Ambassador Hashi highlighted the importance of Somalia’s membership in the United Nations Security Council in 2025, which will give Somalia a platform to discuss peace, security, and development.
Ambassador Guilietti confirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s aspirations by acknowledging the efforts to improve the international laws and regulations of the Geneva Convention.
