Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe meets Algerian counterpart Ibrahim Boughali to enhance legislative cooperation and reaffirm historical relations between the two nations.

The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Hon. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), held a productive and high-level meeting in Algiers with the Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, who also serves as the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union.
The meeting took place during Speaker Madobe’s official visit to Algeria to participate in the Conference of Arab Parliament Speakers, currently being held in the Algerian capital.
Speaker Boughali warmly welcomed Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe and his accompanying delegation, expressing gratitude for Somalia’s participation in the summit and emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral parliamentary relations. He stressed the value of building effective cooperation frameworks between the parliaments of Somalia and Algeria, and commended Somalia’s active role in promoting peace and development across the Arab region.
In response, Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe thanked the government and people of Algeria for hosting the summit and for the warm hospitality extended to the Somali delegation. He underscored the importance of enhancing ties between Somalia and Algeria, especially in the field of parliamentary diplomacy.
Speaker Madobe praised Algeria’s leadership in supporting Arab causes and highlighted the need for continued exchange of legislative experience and knowledge, which would reinforce the historical and brotherly relationship between the two nations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to strengthen collaboration and coordination between the two parliaments, based on shared interests and the long-standing bonds between Somalia and Algeria.
