Mogadishu, June 8, 2025 – The elite Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army (SNA) have carried out a successful operation in the village of Gaalware, located 4 kilometers east of Sabiid and Caanoole in the Lower Shabelle region.
During the operation, more than 25 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group were killed, including three senior commanders.
In addition, the forces seized a large cache of weapons previously used by the militants. These included six PKM machine guns, two RPG launchers, and seventeen AK-47 rifles. The troops also destroyed plans and materials prepared by the group for future attacks.
The Federal Government of Somalia remains firmly committed to eliminating Al-Shabaab and ensuring the safety and stability of the country, in close coordination with the Somali Armed Forces and the support of the Somali people.
