The Federal Government of Somalia has issued an official letter to the members of the international C6+ group, warning them against collectively discussing or making decisions regarding Somalia’s internal affairs. The government described such involvement as unacceptable interference in the country’s sovereignty.

The letter, a copy of which was obtained by RNN Somali TV, stated that Somalia will no longer tolerate decisions being made collectively by international partners regarding Somali issues. It emphasized that diplomatic relations should be conducted on a bilateral basis — where each country engages directly with the Somali government.

The C6+ group includes the following members:

• United Nations (UN)

• African Union (AU)

• European Union (EU)

• Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)

• United States of America

• United Kingdom

In its message, the Somali government firmly stated that it will not allow its sovereign affairs to be managed under a collective foreign framework representing external interests.

The letter also stressed that while Somalia remains open to cooperation and dialogue with international partners, it will not accept any attempts to impose conditions on issues that require national independence and decision-making.

This communication has triggered an urgent reaction, and the C6+ member states are reportedly holding an emergency meeting today to respond to Somalia’s latest stance.

This development comes at a time when Somalia is navigating a complex political landscape involving upcoming elections, internal power struggles, and ongoing security challenges — all of which have increased pressure on the federal government’s ability to implement its plans.
