The Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Macallin Hassan, issued a statement that an Army Helicopter belonging to the African Union forces crashed at Mogadishu airport.

The Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Macalin Hassan, said that the plane took off from Baledoogle Airport, with 8 people on board, and their condition is unknown.

Also he said that rescue operations and extinguishing the fire that broke out on the plane that crashed there are still ongoing, and the cause of the plane crash will be determined.

The normal flights arriving and departing from Mogadishu airport are continuing, and the area where the accident occurred has been closed to the designated personnel.
