The Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) reform and biometric verification process is progressing smoothly, now in its second week, with the technical committee deploying a modern fingerprint identification system at designated military locations.

This critical step strengthens accountability, enhances transparency, and ensures accurate verification of troop presence across all SNAF bases.

The reform, which is being rolled out across all military commands, forms part of the Federal Government’s wider commitment to building a transparent, accountable, and professional national armed force.

By categorising personnel into operational, retired, disabled, deceased (martyrs), and absentees, the process will generate a reliable baseline for decision-making, resource allocation, and the fair application of entitlements.

The biometric process is being overseen by a joint technical committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Defence, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Somali National Armed Forces Command, and the Ministry of Finance.
