Russia promised to support African countries in the war against terrorism.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was giving what he called “full support” to African countries fighting terrorism ,which he presented infront of Russian Foreign Minister Serge Lavrov at the summit of African and Russian foreign ministers in Sochi.

Several African countries have cut ties with traditional Western allies and are looking to Moscow for help in dealing with the constant attacks by the militants.

During the summit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré said that Russia is the right international partner for the former colonial countries, France.

Russia has shown support for the countries where coups took place in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, where military leaders have taken power.

The summit was held at the level of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, while many African leaders also participated in the BRICS economic alliance meeting that took place recently in Russia.
