Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fired his Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, according to Netanyahu’s office and was replaced by Israel Katz, the foreign minister and one of Netanyahu’s staunchest loyalists.
The decision to dismiss Gallant immediately sparked protests in Israel, especially in the center of Tel Aviv where the largest demonstration took place.
Netanyahu fired his defense minister at a critical time when the world’s eyes were on the important US presidential election.
