Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoor-Qoor) has stated that clan-based conflicts are a nationwide issue in Somalia, not unique to Galmudug. However, he acknowledged that some parts of Galmudug have experienced prolonged, deeply rooted conflicts that have lasted for over fifty years.
“There is no region in Somalia that has not witnessed clan conflict at some point,” Qoor-Qoor said. “But in certain areas of Galmudug, the fighting has persisted for nearly half a century.”
His remarks come amid renewed efforts by the Galmudug administration to resolve long-standing clan clashes, particularly in the central regions of the state where cycles of violence have hindered development and displaced civilians for decades.
