President of Somali Regional State Urges Kenyans of Somali Origin to Invest Back Home

The President of the Somali Regional State in Ethiopia, Mustafa Muhumed Omar, has called on Somalis living in Kenya to invest in the Somali Region.

Speaking today at the Garissa Cultural Festival, President Mustafa highlighted the economic progress and increased freedoms that have been achieved in the Somali Region and Ethiopia at large.

He stated that just seven years ago, the region faced oppression and conditions that tarnished the reputation of the Somali people. However, he emphasized that significant improvements have since been made in terms of development and governance.

President Mustafa also briefed residents of Kenya’s North Eastern region on the transformative changes witnessed in the Somali Region, urging them to be part of the ongoing progress.

In his closing remarks, he encouraged Somali communities living in Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera counties to consider investing in the Somali Region, affirming that it is a Somali homeland open to all who wish to contribute to its growth.

President Mustafa’s visit to Garissa was part of his participation in the Garissa Cultural Festival, which showcases traditional sports and cultural heritage from across Kenya and the Somali community.
