The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, in his speech today in front of the Somali Parliament, said that the idea that if the Ethiopian troops withdraw from the territory of Somalia, that Al Shabab will take over is not true.
When he was talking about the relationship between the two countries, he said,”Without the threat of Ethiopia, Al Shabab will take over the country is not real”.
There are many people who comment on Somalia’s security and think that the presence of Ethiopian troops in some regions of Somalia has prevented the Al-Shabaab organization from taking over, and if they leave, those regions are at risk of being taken over by the organization.
The states of Jubbaland and South West are among the ones where the most Ethiopian troops are stationed.
Likewise, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia said that his forces played a major role in securing the security of Somalia.
