Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received Ramla Ali, Somali professional boxer, at the Villa Somalia Presidential Palace.
The President commended Ramla for her courage and determination, noting that she embodies the resilience and fighting spirit of the Somali people.
He also commended her career journey, social contributions, and representation of Somalia on the global stage.
The President presented Ramla Ali with a certificate of honor, thanking her for the role she played in raising the country’s reputation and promoting sports, especially the participation of Somali girls in international sports.
On her side, Ramla Ali thanked the President and all Somali community for their unconditional support and the warm welcome she was given, she promised to to continue the honorable representation of her nation, and to encourage Somali girls and youth to achieve similar achievements.
Ramla Said Ahmed Ali (born 16 September 1989) is a Somali professional boxer, currently living in UK before her family fled the civil war.
Ramla Ali was the first Somali boxer to compete at the Olympic Games, the first to win an international gold medal for the country.
