The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired the meeting of the National Security Council held at the National Security office.
The meeting was about the general security situation and the transition plan of the ATMIS operation, with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mr. Hamse Abdi Barre, his deputy Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, Ministers who are members of the National Security Council and Commanders National Army.
During the meeting, it was analyzed the strategy of strengthening national security and the completion of the reform of the Somali forces, which are currently engaged in filling the security areas that are being vacated by the Somali peacekeeping mission ATMIS and the preparation of the new AUSSOM mission.
Also, the meeting was invited and listened to an important report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation which presented a solution to the challenges faced by Somali farmers, especially checkpoints and illegal money collected in the regions of Middle Shabelle and Lower Shabelle. . The Committee described this issue as a major obstacle that undermines the production and development of the country’s economy.
The president urged the working institutions to work quickly to solve these challenges, so that farmers have opportunities to improve their production, and the Somali people can benefit from the rich agricultural resources of our country.
