The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has arrived in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, to participate in the 34th session of the Arab League Summit.
The high-level summit will focus on discussions around ongoing security and political crises affecting various parts of the Arab region, with the goal of finding sustainable and collective solutions to the challenges facing member states.
President Hassan Sheikh is expected to deliver an official speech at the summit, during which he will highlight Somalia’s ongoing struggle against the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) — a fight led jointly by the Somali government and its people to eliminate terrorism and restore peace and stability in the country.
As a member of the Arab League, Somalia views this summit as a vital opportunity to strengthen diplomatic relations and security cooperation with Arab countries, especially those supporting efforts to combat extremism and promote regional stability.
