President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed who held a meeting in Addis Ababa agreed to restore the relationship between the two countries of Somalia and Ethiopia.

A press release from the Somali Presidency stated that the two leaders agreed to restore and improve relations between the two countries, through the re-operation of the diplomatic representation in the two capitals, and the leaders stressed the need to cooperate in the affairs of the region.

Somalia and Ethiopia emphasized that the stability of the region is essential for the two countries to have a strong cooperation based on trust and mutual respect, as the two leaders agreed to develop efforts to strengthen regional relations and mutual understanding.

The Presidency of Somalia noted that the talks also emphasized the need to continue security cooperation between the two governments and the two leaders directed the security agencies of both sides to enhance their cooperation in order to improve the overall stability of the country region.
