Mogadishu, July 14, 2025: Last night, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners, conducted a planned operation at the Gayacad Junction near the Mabah area in the Hiiraan region, resulting in the elimination of approximately 15 members of the Al Shabab, including both fighters and commanders. An additional five militants sustained serious injuries.
The operation, which took place in three separate stages throughout the night, targeted a group of Al Shabab militants who had mobilized from Aden Yabaal district and Ceel Cali Ahmed area in the Middle Shabelle region.
These militants were attempting to reinforce other Al Shabab elements who were under siege in parts of the Hiiraan region.
Although the Al Shabab tried to take cover in remote bushland, the three strikes successfully neutralized 15 members and confirmed serious injuries to at least five others. The operation is ongoing as security forces continue to pursue militants who fled the scene.
