Mogadishu – Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Fiqi), has issued a strong response to recent statements from opposition figures, accusing them of lacking a true understanding of the country’s challenges and how to resolve them.
In his remarks, Minister Fiqi stated:
“They crowd around foreign offices and complain loudly in front of them, but when the national leadership invites them to dialogue, they act stubbornly… These are people who are the ones in need of saving!”
His comments come amid rising political tensions, as President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called for a national reconciliation conference to be held on June 15 to address ongoing divisions within the country’s political landscape.
The Minister’s remarks appeared to be aimed at opposition members both inside and outside the country, portraying them as more focused on foreign pressure and criticism than on constructive national solutions.
