The Israeli government has approved the proposal for a temporary ceasefire agreement to be implemented in the Gaza Strip for a period of 28 days , in exchange of 8 Israeli prisoners to be released as reported by Axios, a private website linked to the White House and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office.

The head of the US intelligence agency, William Burns, drafted the proposal, which could quickly face the opposition of Hamas, which wants any kind of deal to release the prisoners to include a guarantee that the Israeli army will be removed out of Gaza.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told senior members of his Likud party yesterday that he approved a temporary ceasefire agreement to release a small number of prisoners while he was at the Israeli Parliament.
