Mogadishu, Somalia – June 4, 2025 – Key international partners including the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, and others have reportedly sent both written and verbal messages to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, expressing concern over the ongoing political dispute in Somalia.

According to diplomatic sources, these countries have criticized a recent meeting held by President Hassan Sheikh with leaders of selected political organizations, describing it as non-inclusive and a waste of time. They urged the President to instead directly engage with the leadership of Jubaland and Puntland, as well as prominent figures within the Samatabixinta (Rescue) political coalition.

The political groups that participated in the meeting with the President are widely seen as supportive of his administration, but according to observers, they do not represent the broader spectrum of Somalia’s political stakeholders.

The move underscores growing international frustration with the lack of inclusive dialogue, as Somalia navigates a fragile political environment and upcoming electoral reforms.
