Mogadishu – The Banadir Regional Administration has officially launched the final phase of its land clearance campaign, targeting public educational facilities that have been illegally occupied, in order to establish new, modern learning centers across the region.

The Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), addressed the media today, stating that this initiative is part of a broader effort to reform public services—particularly in the education sector—so that the next generation of Somali students can benefit from safe, clean, and fully equipped learning environments.

“I urge all individuals currently residing in educational buildings in Banadir Region to vacate respectfully, so we can replace them with quality learning institutions. We are now entering the final phase of the land clearance process,” said Governor Muungaab.

The administration emphasized that this process has involved consultations and assessments to ensure that those affected are treated fairly and humanely, and that the community understands the long-term benefits of the project.

The governor further stated that this campaign is not simply about eviction, but about creating lasting development for the region and restoring the purpose of public spaces, especially those designated for education.

This final phase is expected to impact several key locations, and the administration has pledged to approach it with responsibility, transparency, and a commitment to the rights of all citizens.
