For the third consecutive day, intense fighting is ongoing in the Ceel-Hareer area of Hiiraan region between local Macawisley militia and the Al-Shabaab (AS) group.
The Macawisley, a grassroots self-organized community militia, launched heavy attacks on Al-Shabaab positions near Ceel-Hareer. Reports indicate that the fighting has been intense, causing casualties on both sides, although official figures have not yet been released.
Sources on the ground suggest that the Macawisley have taken control of strategic areas and have cut off key supply routes used by the militant group.
This battle is part of a broader community-led resistance against Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan, where local forces—supported by the Somali national army—have been increasingly active in pushing back the militants over recent months.
