Famous international football players expected to arrive in Mogadishu today.

Today a delegation from FIFA is expected to arrive in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, Somalia ,after receiving a formal invitation from the Somali Football Federation.

The delegation, made up of former African players who also played in European and international leagues, such as Samuel Eto’o, former Barcelona star and current head of the Cameroon Football Federation, Jay-Jay Okocha, a legend of the Nigerian national team, and Emmanuel Adebayor, a former Togolese national team striker.

The purpose of there visit is to develop Somali football, as well as to assess the security situation in the country, to determine whether Somalia is capable of hosting international football competitions, especially those in Africa and the Arab world.

Also the icons are expected to participate in a friendly match at the Mogadishu Stadium, where they will play alongside the heroes of the Somali national team.

This will be the highest-profile event that FIFA has sent to Somalia in 35 years, demonstrating the importance FIFA places on the development of football in the country.
