In a rare and unusual incident, an Egyptian lynx attacked multiple Israeli soldiers near the Israel-Egypt border in the Mount Harif area, leaving them with injuries of varying severity, Israeli media has reported. The exact circumstances surrounding the lynx’s entry into Israeli territory and its aggressive behavior remain unclear.

The attack prompted an immediate response from local authorities. A Nature and Reserves Authority inspector arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and managed to capture the wild animal. The lynx was later transferred to a specialized wildlife hospital for further assessment and care.

The Egyptian lynx, native to arid desert regions, is a medium-sized predator known for its agility and speed, reaching up to 80 km/h while hunting. Typically preying on small animals such as rodents, the species is not usually considered a threat to humans, making this attack highly unusual.

Authorities are now investigating the possible reasons behind the lynx’s presence in the area and whether environmental factors, such as habitat disruption or scarcity of prey, may have contributed to its unusual behavior.

This incident has raised concerns about wildlife encounters in the region, prompting calls for increased monitoring of animal movements near border areas.
