Djiboutian Forces in Galmudug Commemorate Djibouti’s Independence Day (June 27th)

Djiboutian troops serving under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), stationed in the Galmudug region—particularly in the town of Cadaado—officially commemorated Djibouti’s Independence Day today, which falls on June 27th.

The ceremony was held at the Djiboutian military base in Cadaado and was attended by ATMIS officers, officials from the Galmudug administration, traditional elders, and members of the local civil society.

The Djiboutian forces expressed their pride in celebrating this national day, recalling that Djibouti’s independence in 1977 symbolizes unity, resilience, and nationhood.

The commander of the Djiboutian forces in Galmudug reiterated their commitment to supporting the Somali people, particularly the Galmudug population, in efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.

Officials from the Galmudug administration thanked the government and people of Djibouti for their continued support to Somalia, emphasizing the strong fraternal ties that bind the two nations.
