Details of 135 people who died in a stampede in Guinea.

A local organization that works on human rights issues said that about 135 people died after the walls of a soccer field in the south of Guinea collapsed on Sunday.

The current death toll is twice as high as the government’s death toll of 56 on Monday.

A controversial refereeing decision led to riots on the pitch. then the police fired tear gas, causing a stampede at the football stadium in Nzerekore.

The joint group for human rights in Nzerekore region, said on Tuesday that the report they released was based on information gathered from hospitals, eyewitnesses, mosques and churches, victims’ families and academic media.

Most of the dead were under the age of 18. Another 50 are missing according to the report.

The military government of Guinea said on Monday that it will launch an investigation into the matter.
