US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who met in Lima Peru on Saturday, reiterated the importance of maintaining dialogue to manage the rivalry between the US and China.

The two leaders are attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum Summit in Lima, Peru.

The relationship between the United States and China is “the most important” in the world, Biden said, emphasizing the responsibility of the two leaders not to allow competition to turn into conflict.

“These conversations prevent miscalculation,” Biden said at the meeting. He added that “in the last four years, they have confirmed the possibility of having a relationship.

Chinese President Xi expressed similar sentiments, saying that the two countries “must keep the interests of the whole world in mind and inject positive energy into this turbulent world.”

China and the United States are now the two most powerful countries economically and militarily in the world.
