President Laftagareen Visits Frontline Troops to Boost Morale in Fight Against Al-Shabaab

Baidoa, Somalia – May 4, 2025 – The President of South West State, H.E. Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen), conducted a morale-boosting visit to frontline troops engaged in operations against Al-Shabaab militants. Accompanied by senior military officials and a robust security detail, President Laftagareen met with soldiers stationed at key defensive positions to commend their efforts and reinforce his administration’s unwavering support.

During the visit, the President received comprehensive briefings from commanding officers regarding recent strategic gains, including the disruption of Al-Shabaab’s logistics and communication networks. The officers also highlighted ongoing challenges, emphasizing the need for enhanced logistical support and coordination with federal forces to sustain momentum against the insurgents. 

In his address to the troops, President Laftagareen praised their bravery and resilience, stating, “Your dedication and sacrifices are the backbone of our nation’s security. We are committed to providing you with the necessary support to ensure the complete eradication of extremist threats from our region.”

This visit follows a recent successful operation where South West State forces, in collaboration with the Somali National Army, repelled a surprise Al-Shabaab attack near Baidoa, resulting in significant militant casualties. 

President Laftagareen’s engagement with frontline units underscores the regional government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability, as well as its dedication to supporting the troops who are at the forefront of this critical mission.
