Somalia taked over as the Chairman of the East African Armed Forces.

Somalia Federal Government has taken over from the Government of Rwanda the leadership of the East African Task Force (EASF), a regional organization whose mandate is to promote peace and security in the East African region, and one of the five regional forces of the African Task Force (EASF) consisting of military, police and civilian units.

Somalia Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Noor, took over from his Rwandan counterpart, Mr. Juvenal Marizamunda, as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Defense and Security in the East African Region, during the 33rd annual EASF Policy Development Conference, which was attended by the Heads of EASF countries which took place in Kigali, Rwanda.

For the first time Somalia ia chairing the EASF Council of Defense Ministers as it has been 20 years since the establishment of this organization.

Minister Abdulqadir Mohamed, thanked the chairman the former chairman Mr. Juvenal Marizamunda and promised that Somalia is committed to the cooperation of all EASF member states. He also extended inviatation for next session that will be hosted by Somalia.
