A plane with 12 people on board has crashed at the Tsimba-Matuga area in Matuga Constituency, Kwale County.
Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director General Emile Arao confirmed that the plane, registration number 5Y-CCA, carrying tourists was heading to Kichwa Tembo in Maasai Mara from Diani before crashing on Tuesday morning.
A reporter speaking to Citizen TV said that the plane erupted into flames upon impact.
Photos believed to be from the crash showed pieces of the craft smouldering and strewn across the crash site.
Security officers and government agencies have arrived at the scene and rescue operations are underway, but harsh weather is slowing down the process.
