Awdheegle, Lower Shabelle – The Somali National Army (SNA) has successfully expelled the Al Shabab militant group from several key areas within Awdheegle District, including the village of Tawakal, as part of the third phase of the ongoing military offensive Operation Silent Storm.

According to military officials, the operation targeted areas where the militants had been hiding and planning attacks. The army launched a coordinated assault to drive the group from its entrenched positions, removing them from long-held shelters in the region.

“The heroes of the National Army are continuing their planned operations with determination,” a statement from the Ministry of Defense said. “They have pushed the Al Shabab out of the front-line areas under Awdheegle district, including Tawakal village, where they had been hiding for some time.”

The current phase of Operation Silent Storm focuses on identifying militant gathering points, uncovering potential plots, and restoring security and stability to liberated areas. Officials say the campaign is part of a broader national effort to eliminate terrorist threats and reclaim territories under militant control.

Security experts view Awdheegle’s strategic location in the Lower Shabelle region as vital for both military and humanitarian efforts. The government has reiterated its commitment to continuing the offensive until the entire country is free from extremist elements.
