The President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe), along with other senior officials, received the body of the late Second Vice President of Jubbaland, Sultan Abdiqadir Haji Mahmoud, at the Kismayo Airport today.
The late leader, who passed away recently, was highly respected for his contributions to the Jubbaland administration and the wider Somali community. His death has been met with widespread grief across the region.
President Ahmed Madobe, visibly saddened, led the delegation that included cabinet members, lawmakers, military officials, and traditional elders who gathered to honor the deceased as his body was brought back to his homeland.
President Ahmed Madobe stated:
“We have lost a man of wisdom, peace, and service. Sultan Abdiqadir played a key role in building our administration and uniting communities. His legacy will live on.”
Funeral arrangements are underway, with thousands expected to attend prayers and burial in Kismayo. Government flags in Jubbaland have been lowered to half-mast in mourning.
